Weak signal? Could be your dish condition.

One thing taken for granted is that your dish is fine. This could be true but many times is far from the truth. You need to ask yourself a few questions. How old is my dish? How many hailstorms and bad storms has it gone through? Has the dish been hit or damaged in anyway?

The next step is too look at the dishes surface itself. Are you missing panels? Are there dents in the mesh? Are there holes or tears in the mesh? Are panels popped from parabolic shape or distorted?  All of the above will achieve the same results Weak or no signal.

Missing, dented, or hail damage panels. Major signal loss.

Deformation to mesh causing incorrect focus of signal.

Why is this so important?

Your dish is a collector of weak signals coming from some 22,000 miles above the earth. The accuracy (shape) of the parabolic curve plays a very important role in focusing these signals into your feedhorn  and LNB to collect and amplify these signals for later processing by your receiver. When panels are imperfect the signal misses the feedhorn and now your 10 foot is working as a 6 foot.

The next step is to see if there is anything you can do to repair the panels. Sometimes some auto body hammers and tools can flatten the surface enough where you can refocus the signal back into the feedhorn where it belongs. Other times no matter how much you try it’s a lost cause.

What do you do then? Its time to go dish shopping. With many choices that use to be available back in the day not there anymore your choice is limited. One thing to be weary of when dish shopping is throwing away good money just to save a buck. There are some low cost Chinese built mesh dishes on the market that are nothing but junk. Their low cost can make them seem attractive, but once received and assembled the horrors just begin. There are damage panels, parts don’t go together right, once assembled the parabolic curve is egg shaped. The mounts are weak, and don’t survive even moderate wind load well. Once assembled signal is weak or non existent no matter how well you try to tune it due to surface and manufacturing anomalies. Purchasing this could put you in a worse condition then you were in originally with your old dish.

Low quality packing of Chinese mesh dish panels cause damage in shipping. You end up with distorted panels that do not conform to proper parabolic curve.

Panels mesh torn and deformed on low cost China import dish. This will cause signals to reflect everywhere but where they should.

Chinese manufactured dish poorly designed thin mount cannot survive high winds. Notice the paper thin metal that can twist under wind load stress.

Mount damage incurred from 35 mph winds with low cost Chinese made mesh dish. A good dish and mount should survive 95 mph wind gusts without damage.

Being forewarned of you get what you pay for. Where should my money be spent? Rainier has the solution. We carry our base 9 foot 4 piece solid dish designed and built by D&H antenna. The 9 footer is built in the USA and shipped professionally in wooden crates to prevent damage in shipping. It’s assembly is simple as all panels are marked where they should go. This maintains excellent parabolic curve.

Weak Signal? Could be your feedhorn.

Receiving weak signal with low quality numbers? Do you own a old servo type feedhorn or LNBF? If so its time to move up to the finest feed Rainier has tested. The Dual C-Band Tuned Ortho Feed from Harvard Scientific. This feedhorn made in the USA, is designed to work with c band prime focus dishes with an F/D ratio from .25 – .42. If your dish is shallow or deep this feed will obtain maximum illumination of your reflector for the maximum signal. But that’s not all. The Harvard Scientific is fine tuned from 3.7- 4.2 Ghz, and rejects all other out of band signals and TI that cause interference to the digital signals. While talking about interference the specially tuned step design of the custom scaler ring rejects interfering signals and noise that Chaparral and other knockoff feeds cannot stop.

2 LNB’s are required. We recommend the NJR’s or Norsats found at our webstore. Upgrade to the best today and say goodbye to that weak or spotty signal condition.

You can get it all here.

Tired of FTA Boxes that don’t work right? Throwing money away time after time?

Are you one of the FTA box users that seem to  get a receiver that never works right on all or some channels no matter what you do?

Does your box exhibit these symptoms? Video stuttering , lockup , or freeze? Audio missing, or out of sync (lipsync)? Channel refuse to scan in? Box runs hot or reboots? Box dies prematurely and dealer offers little or no help? Tried updating firmware and it don’t update or bricks the box.

Does your dealer promise that these problems will be rectified in the next firmware release? Does the next firmware release cause same or new problems? Does your dealer announce there will be no more updates and your now stuck with that problematic box?

Does your dealer come out with a new model and promise the new model will fix all previous problems with his last model and do so much more, but never does?

Have you lived through all this time and time again? Are you tired of it?

If so then Rainier can provide the solution.  Our Cisco D9865 model receiver does not have any of these problem that all other FTA boxes exhibit.

Let me tell you, I like everyone else have been through the problematic FTA merry go round for years just like you reading this now and was disgusted with it all. Once I got the Cisco D9865 these problems stopped. It just worked and worked well! I have been using the Cisco for well over 2 years now and very satisfied. The Cisco also offers the added benefit of Subscription C band Master TV that no FTA box can offer. More on the Cisco later.

So why does this happen with typical FTA boxes A-Z?

All the FTA boxes the FTA dealers sell  are originally intended for use in a foreign country.  They are not designed for North America’s TV signals and standards no matter what they may tell you. Your typical FTA dealer/seller looks for a product that will meet his needs and  clients price range. One big restriction the FTA dealer faces is cost. He knows his clients will not spend the money to do it right.  So he must settle. (This is where the problem begins) FTA dealers are small garage based businesses that dont have the money to invest in a ground up product built specifically for the North American Market to his specifications. So the FTA dealer/seller decides on this or that foreign pre made box depending on what will seem to work for him. He then brings it to market and begins sales. After a while his clients complain that this isn’t  working right or that isn’t right. So he contacts the manufacturer or has someone write patches to the firmware to try to solve  the issues. In the meantime it usually screws up the previous code and a new problem arises. So its back to trying to fix that problem and many times still trying to fix the original problem. Once again he releases an update and the scenario keeps repeating itself. After the dealer/seller exhausts all his resources and the manufacturer / coder says it cannot be fixed no matter what, he drops support for the box. And you the consumer is left out in the cold.

After support is dropped the dealer /seller starts this game over again looking for another FTA box to fill the sales void. He still has the financial restraints to work with so the scenario  repeats itself once again and the consumer loses again. Round and round the cycle goes.

Now back to the Cisco D9865. Why is it different? One of the things many overlook is that the Cisco D9865 is designed for the North American TV Market. It uses the same engine that is used in the commercial receivers/decoders used in your typical Cable and Satellite headend to deliver those services. It’s firmware has already been designed to work right and must no matter what it receives. Any future updates are done automatically over the satellite, so you don’t risk the chance of bricking the receiver  with USB or internet update.  Cost factor (the failure of typical FTA boxes) was not an issue when it was done so it is done right. But there is a tradeoff – it costs more than your typical FTA receiver upfront. Quality does not come free as many may keep believing. You need to ask yourself this question? Do I want to keep playing this FTA low price game buying your typical $100-$400 FTA receiver over and over just to replace it in 6 months to a year? OR Do I want to spend a little more once and be done with this merry go round once and for all? If you add up what you spent on many FTA bug-ridden receivers over a few years you can very easily own the Cisco D9865 and have change left over. Its your money how do you choose to spend it?

Short on cash? You can pay it off over time with our financing through Paypal Credit.

I hope this clears up what really happens behind the scenes and why that typical FTA box keeps giving you fits.

If your ready to upgrade and finally be happy, get the Cisco D9865 and sit back and enjoy the TV you want to watch for a change without frustration.

In Search of the Best Stand Alone Satellite Dish Mover.

Rainier Satellite is proud to announce we are now a dealer for and selling the Best Quality solid well built, bug free mover made today, the Pansat AP 600.

AP 600

We have tested them all, from the low cost V box 7, V box II, and all the off names of the V box family.  To the high cost Titanium ASC-1, They all fell short of the quality and robustness we were looking for.

The V Box family had issues, it failed in cold climates,  under continuous use, or moving  8 foot larger, or heavier dishes. We could not settle or justify selling a product to our customers with these multiple issues.

We also tested the Titanium ASC-1 but were quickly disappointed  by its problems. Most noted its runaway motor control, (it quickly runs your dish to the end of its travel by itself when an incorrect key is pushed, or senses something incorrectly) This is dangerous, and can ruin dishes (dish flip) and actuators (bent arms).   Other bugs and problems cropped up too, too many to mention here.  Once again, we  were just not satisfied with it nor could endorse,  or sell a product like this to our customers.

We needed something that was guaranteed to work well under all conditions and not buggy for our customers. We took the same into consideration when finding a receiver for our services.  It must work and work well, this is our goal. Rainier Satellite prides itself on selling only quality fully tested products.

So what was Left?

We needed a product that would  work as well as the 4DTV or other  quality built C band satellite receivers tracker did, bug free. Well the AP 600 actually does just that. It performs flawless, and is bug free. We are very happy with its solid robust performance.

If you look under the AP 600’s hood its build on the old school  electronic design just like the old satellite receivers which worked so well.

(AP-600 below)

AP-600 Inside. Notice the High Amperage Transformer and spaced out parts design layout. This layout provides cooler running operation for long life.

Its a breath of fresh air to see something built with the old school  design quality (AP-600) and integrity that served C band so well for many years.

Everything today seems to be based on low cost cheap robotic sub-mini design. (ASC-1 example below)

ASC-1 robotic sub-mini cramped parts design. This design is prone to heat issues.
Sub-mini robotic design using surface mount devices. This get hot fast.

Or uses cheap underrated parts like the V Box family. Inside the V-Box models you can see the cheaply made poor design with its under rated transformer.

Are you stuck on the FTA Receiver Merry Go Round?

Do you end up buying  the latest FTA receiver every time you turn around being promised by that FTA dealer is it will work without performance issues (such as video audio stutter and lag) ? Promised the firmware update to fix problems is coming and never does? Then end up with another box that does not deliver what they promised, only to do it over and over again?  These dime a dozen FTA  boxes are nothing more than a China or other country built foreign models designed to work in that country, NOT in the USA.  No matter how you try to manipulate the firmware  it just will not work right in the US with our signals. The Rainier Cisco D9865 is designed for the USA and the broadcast signal over here in North America. It has the processor power and firmware from the factory to do it right the first time.  Its time the facts are known to the public. You work hard for your money, and its time your hard earned money is spent on something that works. Only the Cisco / Rainier D9865 receiver plays ALL FTA without issues. Its works out of the box without upgrades or firmware modifications. Only the Rainier receiver can provide Subscription C band HDTV and FTA that works ALL in one box.

The topic is Cisco/Rainier D9865H Commercial-Quality

Here is a copy/paste of the first post

Cisco/Rainier D9865H Commercial-Quality HD Satellite Receiver is now available for receiving new Subscription Cband pay programing using the PowerVue encryption system. I have using this receiver for past two weeks and watching MAVTV HD and NFL Network and other FTA HD services that are in the clear. It was built in Decmenber 23 2014 so its brand new not New old stock,

I Did Side by Side comparison between Time Warner cable Using two Panasonic Plasma HDTV set using HDMI. Tested Component Output on a Glass CRT and LCD HDTV Set and Picture Quality is Excellent, Even the NTSC Composite video output top notch when compared to lousy Time Warner Cable bit starved HDLite. I also compared to an PANSAT AZBox and other commercial receiver and the picture was good or better as anything I have.

Audio is present on the HDMI output and the Coaxial SPDIF sounds great High Fidelity no hum or noise when used with either a Yamaha 8.2 or Panasonic 7.1 Home Surround Sound Theater audio Receiver. The Cisco receiver has been completely trouble free on the initial install does everything the specification says it will do. It even play NBC and other High bit rate feed with NO STUTTER. It runs very cool to the touch no noisy fan is required.

There are no USB or Ethernet ports as it does not need any Firmware update as its bug free right out of the box. Any firmware updated for new operational features will done by download from the satellite. This means no more Bricked STBs that are turned into a doorstop when file transfers are gone bad with PC or USB Thumb drive.
Like all commercial receivers Programing new service is done manually no blind scan. Remote control is well made with a good layout of the key for easy use. Its similar to programing a Integra 912 except you have to enter the NITID. Very easy menu structure just click the Setup Button on the remote or the front panel menu button and then click OK Tuning/Preset. There are 64 presets where you can enter a mux,

First screen is the Tuning parameter that were already entered show if there is a signal look Signal Quality Signal level.
To put in new service into a preset you push the YELLOW button and the next menu will have PRESET NUMBER highlighted,
Next press OK and the first number will turn black and you can change this number either using the up down arrow of Direct enter the number using the remote numerical keys on the remote press OK Then press the down arrow once then OK to Preset the name of the new programing service.
You can enter the letters using the remote Keyboard or push the up the down arrow keys to scroll through both lower and upper case letters. Click OK then scroll pasted LNB Configuration as it already set to 1 which is 5150Mhz stop on Modulation Type. Using the left or right arrow set it to DVBS2 of DVBS as required Press OK’
CLick Down arrrow to DOWNLINK and entered in the the Frequency of the transponder. Make sure you enter any leading ZERO so 4Ghz is 04.00000. Ku band there is no leading ZERO example 12.110000GhZ
Click OK to enter
Next Scroll down to symbol rate click OK and enter the the number then click OK again.
Finally press the down arrow again Click OK and enter the NETid.
NetId for the FTA service can be found on Lyngsat oe will be provided by Rainier when new progaming services are available.
Once everything is entered correctly Position the dish on the satellite and polarity of the service you want to manuallly scan in Press the BLUE button to ACTIVATE which scans that transponder in.
You get a warning Changes may affect system settings but do not worry Press OK If your on the right satellite and polarity you will see Acguistion Successfull or Acquisition Failed. If it failed check the dish position and Polarity setting on your slaved receiver as DVBS2 polarity position has to be dead right on and are touchy as with any other brand FTA STB.
It one the easiest commercial receiver I have ever programed take very little practice and time to enter the parameters

IF your all thumbs in manually programing a STB Rainier will preprogram them for you for a fee to cover time and shipping charges. You should learn how to manually program the Cisco so you can DIY yourself when new programing become available.

Once your locked email Rainier your Name and Address with the S/N and UA (unit address) and they will forwarded this to Cisco. It may take a day a two before Cisco enters the UA and authorizing the programinging depending how busy they are. They should get faster as the volume of people wanting Authorization goes down. SO Be Patient! Its been worth the wait.

I also emailed customer service to ask numerous questions about the other menus and features not in the user manual… They were very quick to call me back and were very knowledgeable to help me and any other problem you may have to solve. They took the time to explain to me anything I wanted to know.

So it is UP to YOU as This will be the last attempt for the BIG UGLY DISH Home Cband consumers to be able to buy Premium True HD Pay TV Programing we all been missing wanting and not available from cable or Pizza Dish. I noticed the Sony Movie channel had audio in the clear at this time. It sure would be nice to be able to get the Sony movies in 4K soon,

They have 5 year contracts and Rainier told me they will be in it for the long haul to get more programing as they have signed contracts already for more programing.
As you can tell I EXTREMELY HAPPY with my purchase it reminded me how I felt the first time I set up my satellite system back in 1978. It may seem old hat but the ear to ear smile on my face watching MAVTV without any artifact and then calling Time Warner and telling them you can stop charging extra money for MAVTV so remove the service and the extra charge from my cable bill.
